What is Laser Skin Resurfacing CO² Laser?

The CO2 laser remains the superior tool for aesthetic skin resurfacing, ( a procedure designed to remove superficial wrinkles around the eyes, lips, forehead and cheeks), so apparent in aging skin. Patients with facial acne scars, enlarged pores, or sun-damaged skin with uneven pigmentation also make excellent candidates for this treatment.

Custom Made Facials-during your 60 minute treatment, our Medical Estheticians have years of experience in designing the right product regimen to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Whether it is anti-aging, acne, extractions of Milea (hard small white bumps under the skin that won’t remove with out extractions) and more, our highly skilled clinicians can get you on your path towards more youthful looking skin.  There is normally no downtime with facials.

Microdermabrasion is a great way to take the extra layers of dead skin that give our skin the ‘drag and sag’ look. Microdermabrasion is non invasive and normally has no downtime. $100 per session

CO2 Skin resurfacing, acne scar reducer, stretch marks, wrinkle reducing Laser (aka Fraxel)
is a fabulous modality to bring youth back into your skin. Number of treatments are dependent upon the condition of your skin. Downtime can be as little as 3 days to 10 days, according to the intensity your treatment. We will tell you our recommendations and you tell us your comfort level. Your wishes are our primary concern. $1000 per area

Laser Photo Rejuvenation is great in reducing to totally removing age spots, Rosacia, sun damage, freckles, birth marks and more (anything with color the laser will reduce/remove). The treatments are normally every 2 weeks and take 2-5 treatments. During your private consultation, you will be given realistic expectations. At Parker Med Spa, we have traditional laser as well as an IPL to treat your skin. The beauty of coming to a State of the Art Laser Clinic, if one of the modalities doesn’t work on your skin, we have many options.

Spider Vein Reduction/Removal on your legs can take about 3 months to heal. $49.95 per square inch. If large area, discounts given.

Teeth Whitening-40 minute State of the Art Teeth Whitening sessions to help you glow inside and out! $169.95 (additional seasonal treatments only $50)

Laser Hair Removal of any color.  Traditional laser sees color. This is why only hair with ‘color’ can be treated. At Parker Med Spa, we have an IPL from Wales, that kills the blood supply to the root; so, it doesn’t matter what hair color! Tradition laser treatments are about once every 3-4 weeks for 10-12 times for permanency. IPL is 10-20 treatments. The laser creates more heat; therefore, is more effective at killing the root. Short of electrolysis, our Phaser EPL is your only option.

Candela Gentelase (There are 3 stages of hair growth per hair and some follicles have multiple hairs. ALL these roots must be killed while in growth stage. This is why so many treatments are needed. If not having treatments as directed by your clinician this will add to the treatments needed.)

Waxing

Massage of all types -during your 60 minute treatment, heat is applied to make your muscles easier to massage. We have sports/deep tissue massage to ‘get all the kinks out’, pregnancy massage for the mom to be to lay on her tummy, lymph massage to help detox your body and make you healthier, reflexology, Shiatsu, and Couples Tandem Massage, RELAXATION massage, and more.  $60-$85 per hour

Chemical Peels  - A varying degree of chemical peels are done at Parker Med Spa. If you have red on your face, a light to NO chemical peel should be done. Let us consult to see which would be best for you!

Isolaz Acne Treatment-This is an IPL has has a vacuuming action prior to the ‘zap’. The vacuum effect sometimes allows the cystic acne to extract during treatment; then, when the light pulses-it kills the bacteria within the cystic acne. Results are normally seen by the next day! A healthy eating lifestyle aids in healing your body from the inside out. $250 per zone (face is broken down into 3 zones for Isolaz Treatments)

What is a Zerona Laser and how do we use it at Parker Med Spa in Denver? 

Opra and Dr. Drew Ordon from The Doctors have been talking about it. The Zerona! So what is Zerona? Zerona is an FDA approved fat emulsifier. It’s a non-invasive laser treatment that, within 18 minutes, effectively removes excess fat without the negative side effects associated with surgical methods.

The affects of Zerona have proven outstanding considering the reduction of inches patients have seen from the process. As Dr. Drew Ordon puts it, “I have to say, I didn’t believe it at first either. The Zerona laser simply shines a laser light upon the areas where the fat is to be reduced… basically, the Zerona has been shown to reduce inches of fat by sucking the fat cells dry…The evidence shows that we have a new way to reduce figure flaws without surgery.”

We quite agree. So as an added benefit, we’ve added the infrared sauna to our Zerona services. What the infrared sauna does is it heats up your tissue at the cellular level. Then, when we begin the Zerona treatment, the tissues have already begun the heating process so the Zerona can work even quicker to remove the excess fat.

Parker Med Spa has been using the CO² Lasers for many years with great success at the Denver location.

We are often asked about getting rid of deep wrinkles and best methods for doing so. A few years ago, treatments like dermabrasions were the answer. Unlike microdermabrasions, dermabrasions require anesthesia before application, pain medication after the procedure and a recovery time of 7-10 days. Another treatment option has been the CO² laser. Earlier CO² lasers would leave behind skin wounds such as open sores and crusting.

Getting Rid of Deep Wrinkles

Today, the CO² laser has evolved and now offers a better alternative to getting rid of deep wrinkles. The Matrix Fractional CO² laser is a fractionated laser beam that releases thousands of tiny columns of heat deep into the skin, destroying old skin cells and invoking new collagen formation. This means that the fractional CO² lasers now leave surrounding tissue unaffected and intact allowing the skin to heal much faster with downtime at around four days.

So what kind of results can you expect with the Matrix Fractional CO² laser? This form of treatment removes fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, brown spots and deeper frown lines and grooves will be greatly softened. Once the outer layer of skin has been partially removed, the new skin underneath presents a softer, smoother, more youthful appearance. Having extra hair in unwanted places can be embarrassing or at times, down right annoying. Fortunately there are remedies such as shaving, waxing and even laser hair removal; with the later moving towards a more “permanent solution”. With most people opting for a “permanent solution”, let’s explore what hair removal really means.

To understand how laser hair removal works you need to know the cycles of hair growth that the average person experiences. There are 3 distinct phases that human hair goes through from beginning to end of its life.

Phases of Hair Growth

Anagen – The anagen phase is where the active hair growth takes place.

Catagen – The catagen phase is the resting state after which the hair has grown to full size.

Telogen – The telogen phase is the state where the hair is mature, awaiting aging and removal from the follicle. The hairs you see in the sink and on clothing are for the most part hairs removed from the follicles after being in the telogen phase.

When utilizing a laser to permanently reduce hair, only those hairs in the active growth phase, Anagen, are susceptible to being destroyed by the laser. And, the percentage of hairs in the Anagen phase at any given time varies depending on the area of the body of which the hair is being treated. A person’s genetic makeup must also be taken into consideration such as hair type and skin and hair color along with diet, lifestyle and age.

On average, 85% of hairs in the scalp area are in Anagen phase at any given time. Hairs in the beard area average 70% in the Anagen phase. Contrast that with leg hairs where only 20% may be in Anagen at any given time.

Based on the data given, it’s easy to realize that hair count reduction off the head will require fewer treatments than hair in the leg area. A person may require 5-8 treatment to reduce hair counts in the leg area but maybe only 2-3 to significantly reduce hair on the head.

So when you visit a laser hair removal center for hair removal, what you are really doing is having a “reduction of hair count”, not “total removal” of all the hair. You will continue to have hair growth until all the hairs have been treated while they are in the Anagen phase, and this can literally take months.

We have been talking about the Zerona Laser, for the fat emulsification process. (We use the YOLO to sculpt areas while using the Zerona!) The YOLO is a fat emulsifying laser, too. The difference between the two lasers is the YOLO directly touches the skin and also help elasticize your tissue, during the process, as your body is getting smaller while the fat and toxins are being emulsified. When we do start to diet, it is disconcerting, a lot! One big thing is to not get on scales daily…the following is from my calorie count email…

On 1200 calories a day, you, personally, should lose about 4 pounds per month, but before you express alarm, ask yourself these questions:

• Have I really been trying to lose for one month or is it more like 3 weeks?
• Did I log my weight at the start and at least once a week so that my numbers are true?
• Do I really exercise everyday or do I skip days?
• Are my food records completely accurate or do I forget to log foods misjudge portions?

So, my eating habits have been great. (no exercise, though, argh!) watching Jillian on the Biggest Loser is very Inspirational to me. How are you doing!? Getting ready to get on an airplane back to Ga. I was better at planning. I had my eggs for breakfast, have nuts for airplane, 1/2 peanut butter sandwich, left over chicken veggie shish kabob! Yum! Mom does have homemade lasagna for supper! I will be perfect till then! Baby steps!

One last thing…if you have chronic lung trouble. A RN in Ga was telling my dad to open the lower lobes of the lungs….take as deep of a breathe in as you can. When exhaling…pant like a dog 5 times as u exhale all the breath. If u use an Inhaler, do this every time before you use it!

Diets are filled with rules about when, what, and how much to eat. While “the rules” may make sense on the surface, unless you understand why you do certain things, you’ll break the rules as soon as the temptation is greater than your motivation.

Let’s examine some of these myths, where they come from, and how to make long term changes that work for you.

Myth 1: Don’t Eat After 7pm

Your metabolism doesn’t shut off at 7:01 pm so why is this rule so common? Many people who struggle with their weight overeat in the evening after dinner so they aren’t snacking because they’re hungry. They’re snacking because they’re bored, watching television, rewarding themselves, or feeling lonely.

Rather than using a temporary rule to address those habits, when you feel like eating in the evenings, ask, “Am I hungry?” If you’re truly hungry, eat, keeping in mind that your day is winding down so you don’t need a big meal. If you aren’t hungry, think about why you feel like eating anyway and come up with a better way to address that need. Ken, a man in one of our Am I Hungry?

So, I stopped by Foot Solutions where I buy my shoes and inserts (a shoe store like the commercials for “Good Feet”), in Parker, near Costco, yesterday.  Yes, I have orthopedic inserts…Thom gets a kick out of that because it ‘sounds’ old.  I NEED them because of my high arches.  I have been told that my arches are so high…’you could drive a truck under them’….with that said, if you are on your feet all day-you MUST have correct support.  That wasn’t my point, though, of what I wanted to tell you.  Do you know of anyone who has foot odor!?  Jeff,  co-owner of Foot Solutions (his wife Betty is the other 1/2, smile) told me it is just bacteria.  I NEVER knew that.  He told me to use peroxide to kill the bacteria.  I have a peroxide bottle with a sprayer on it, for the kitchen.  (Cheap easy way to kill the bacteria on your counters!)  I pulled the inserts from my shoes and sprayed with peroxide….they bubbled-which as we know…means it’s killing bacteria.  I sprayed the inside of my shoes, too!  This morning, they are dry and ready to go!  Fresh, clean shoes!!!!  Try it!  I was amazed!

How is your eating and exercising.  I have not been doing any exercising because of my elbow hurting, still.  I had the massage; but, never took the time for Chiro adjustment from Dr. Walker or the healing laser…it is a FACT that when you don’t exercise, your joints hurt WORSE because of the lack of movement.  The movement brings blood to the area and decreases the pain (blood flow heals!)!

Oh my god! Gaining at least 1 pound every week, sometimes even 2 pounds!….Could you imagine?

Now, let’s gain some perspective here. Why is it that when we are trying to lose weight, 1 or 2 pounds is nothing to us, but if we were to gain that amount of weight in the same amount of time we would really freak out.

One to two pounds seems like little every week, until you look back 2 months later and are down a whole 8-16 pounds. It’s a lot of weight. Keep on keepin on; the weight will pile up so fast. Like I have read so many times, the time is gonna go by anyway, you might as well get healthier, look better, and be happier while you’re still livin.

It’s been about 6 weeks for me (in two days) and I have lost 11 pounds. Do you have any idea how fast the time went by? And how happy I am?

Don’t give up. It’s so worth it.

Good morning!  I have been out of  touch-mentally!  Sorry!  I am in the midst of trying to figure out things to make Parker Day Spa and Parker Laser work better.  Soon, we will stop the daily emails and they will posted to a blog on Parker Day Spa site.  That way we don’t bombard your email!  That way your email is for appt reminders only or any personal communication we (you or I) want to have.

So, on RealAge, the blurb was about lung health.  Automatically, I thought about second hand smoke us baby boomers had or smoking themselves!  Surprisingly, this was NOT it!  It was the direct correlation of brushing your teeth and lung disease! (COPD)

Two minutes in the morning and two minutes in the evening and your lungs may be breathing fine for a very long time. We’re talking about brushing your teeth.

As you’ve no doubt heard, good dental hygiene helps prevent gum disease. But what you might not know? A recent study suggests that gum disease may open the door to some pretty serious lung diseases.

The Mouth-Lung Connection
Smoking remains the leading cause of serious respiratory diseases, such as lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The recent study did not conclusively prove that gum disease is another direct cause of COPD. But people in the study who were hospitalized with COPD and other types of lung disease had significantly higher rates of gingivitis and periodontal disease than the folks in a control group who had healthy lungs. It’s not clear what the connection is. But we know that the bacteria from dental plaque, when inhaled into the lungs, not only can cause COPD exacerbations but also might trigger respiratory infections in healthy people.

Amen!  I have always known the correlation of bad teeth=bad health!  Just never knew exactly that!  My dad- who died  2 months ago….had bad teeth.  Never correlated it specifically with his horrible lung disease!  He suffered so badly!  So, take care of your mouth!  Remember, we are suppose to brush your whole mouth, not only your teeth (tongue, roof of mouth, gums),  floss and rinse with mouthwash 2 times a day!  (most of us don’t have time to go to the bathroom during the day let alone find 5 minutes for oral hygiene!  Scary but true!).  Just remember, take care of your mouth for better health! As a general rule it seems like we do not take the time to let people know when they are appreciated; so I feel it is imperative that I compliment one of your massage therapists: Nicole. I came in several months ago with back spasms and tight muscles everywhere and thought that I would just have to learn to live with the discomfort. One massage was all it took to convince me to join the Massage club and after 3 months of wonderful massages I am almost back to feeling great.

In mid-December I had medical set back that left me unable to see Nicole; but true to form, Parker Day Spa was wonderful to work with, they put my membership on hold until I could get my health back.

I am now back to my regular massages and am continuing to see huge improvements in the way I feel and move!

Hit that snooze button and sleep in a little later tomorrow. It’s one of the best kept secrets to dieting success.
Yep, according to research, getting enough sleep (8 or more hours every single night) helps your body burn more fat when you’re dieting. Maybe you should head to bed earlier, too, for good measure.
Sleep Tight, Melt Fat
In a small study, getting less than the optimal amount of sleep each night had detrimental effects on a group of dieters. After 2 weeks, the dieters who had spent a mere 5.5 hours sleeping each night lost 55 percent less body fat compared with the dieters who spent 8.5 hours snoozing nightly. And here’s the really big surprise. Not only did the light sleepers burn less body fat, but also their weight loss efforts carved away substantially more lean body mass than did similar efforts by the good sleepers. Not good, because muscle helps keep your metabolism fired up, so you naturally burn more calories throughout the day. (Can’t sleep, even though you’re getting into bed early enough?
